For no one despises or hates pleasure itself because it is pleasure
or flees, but because great pains follow those who reason
they do not know how to pursue pleasure. Nor is there any one who suffers pain
It is precisely because he wants pain, he wants to pursue it, he wants to achieve it, but because
such times as those of labor and pain never occur
let him seek some great pleasure. To come to the smallest details,
which of us undertakes any physical exercise that is laborious,
except that some advantage may result from it? But who or him
he will rightly criticize him who wants to be in that pleasure rather than nothing
trouble will result, or the one who avoids the pain
no pleasure to be born?
